Hi, my name is Nova, and I like to write.
I’ve been fascinated with writing and reading for as long as I can remember. I wrote my first complete story–a horror story about a meniacal cat and a prescient dream– when I was six, and I haven’t put my pen down since.
Now I write all kinds of things, mostly fiction but not always. I’ve written everything from toilet catalog descriptions to travel articles, website copy to humor pieces, romance novels (under a pen name) to horror stories to cookbooks.
I’m currently working on a tv show and a novel about a weird family.
I’ve had a plethora of non-writing jobs–insurance sales, Taco Bell cashier, pharmacy technician, chef, Mary Kay lady, microchip fabrication, medical records, and nurse’s aide to name a few. I got a crazy bug a few years ago and started a catering business. It was really fun but also really exhausting. In 2014 I gave it up to write full-time and haven’t looked back.
I attended that most esteemed of institutions, Arizona State University, and came away with a B.A. in History, a B.S. in Biological Sciences, and a deep hatred of Jagermeister.
I’ve spent most of my life as a nomad, living all over the country and the world in places as varied as New Mexico, Northern California, Ireland, Oregon, Boston, Arizona, Texas and Taiwan. Luckily I finally found a place to call home–Austin, Texas–where I live with my very patient husband Dan, our little boy Connor, and our border collie Pepper Potts.
